Nitya Kandath (Swami Nityamuktananda) has been teaching and practicing yoga for over 27 years. He was interested in studying Yogic and Vedanta philosophies since childhood. He joined the Ashram at the age of 21 and lived from north to south of India for many years.
He started his own Sakthi School of Yoga in Mamallapuram near Madras south of India where he taught Yoga and Vedanta. He came to Canada 1994 and started Swami Vishnu Yoga Centre. Nitya studied yoga mainly under the guidance of Swami Vishnudevananda and studied Vedanta from Swami Brahmananda in Rishikesh, Divine Life Society. Both teachers are disciples of Master Swami Sivananda.
Nitya is a registered “Experienced Yoga Teacher” with Yoga Alliance. Nitya’s teachers training course is 300 hours and Students are well qualified for 200 hours of experience from Yoga Alliance. For more information about our teachers training course visit this page.
Nitya’s teacher: Swami Sivananda
Gamal Abdel-Shehid has been teaching yoga since 2007, having studied both in India and in Canada. He studied under Nitya Kandath, who is a direct disciple of Swami Vishnu Devananda and Swami Brahmananda. Both Swami Vishnu and Swami Brahmananda are direct disciples of Sri Swami Sivananda.
Gamal teaches Classical Hatha Yoga, although somewhat modified for modern life. The yoga postures and the breathing exercises are challenging, yet the main aim is not to achieve success in the postures, but to be aware and practice in a slow, gentle fashion. Thus, the yoga is open to anyone regardless of age or ability.
